What Makes Us Different

The Bible was given to mankind by God to help us get to know him better and to know what purpose he has for our lives. All of our beliefs, principals, and doctrines are based on the Bible alone.

We are a Local New Testament Church

Local means that we actually have a physical church outside of the walls of our own home. A church is not a building, it is the assembly of people. The New Testament church is our Lord's vehicle to evangelize the world. God's plan is not to bring to spiritual birth the sinner and then allow him to be orphaned. Rather, He has prepared an institution to reach out in soul winning fervor to the unsaved, win them, baptize, teach, train and care for them until they are mature and can spiritually reproduce. Indeed, the church is there to meet their needs from spiritual birth to physical death.

We are an Independent Church

We are completely independent of any sort of denomination, group, affiliation, organization, etc. The church, that Christ established, was a local sovereign body, responsible only to God and acknowledging no other authority than Jesus Christ, as the Head of the church. By being independent, our Pastor has the freedom to preach whatsoever Biblical principals and teachings that God may lay upon his heart, challenging a Christian to grow.

We are a Fundamental Church

We believe the fundamental foundational doctrines of the Bible. Because the times have changed, and churches seem to be ever-changing in their beliefs, the word fundamental is used to state that we still believe in the original principals and truths taught by the Bible. Even today, what's right is still right, and what's wrong is still wrong.

We are a King James Bible Believing Church

We believe that the King James Bible from the year 1611 is the only pure and perfect preservation of the Bible in the English language. We take the King James Bible to be the perfect Word of God. God promised that He would preserve His Word. Do we think that after all that God has done, He is not able to simply preserve a book in a multitude of languages? God says;

"the Words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." (Psalms 12:6-7)

Here at Fort Victory Baptist Church, we agree with, and challenge every believer to take heed to the words of one of God's greatest preachers, the late Evangelist Lester Roloff, who once said,
"The Bible doesn't need to be re-written, it just needs to be read."

We are a Soul-Winning Church

We spend time telling others about Christ, and sharing with them how they can go to Heaven. Although many modern day churches do not believe that this is a proper approach to sharing Christ, God actually commands for us to do it! "And He said unto them , Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15) "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." (Acts 5:42)

We are a Baptist Church

Contrary to what many people think, the word "Baptist" is not a word that defines a denomination. There are some who have taken the name Baptist and added it to their chosen denomination name, such as Southern Baptist, Northern Baptist, General Baptist, etc. However, as you can see by the word Independent up above, we are not involved in a denomination, so we want people to clearly understand what a true Baptist is.
